Microneedling
in St Petersburg, FL

Automated Microneedling

(also referred to as Collagen Induction Therapy or CIT) is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for the treatment of fine lines, acne scars and improvement of skin’s texture, tone and color.

When Microneedling was first introduced, it truly was Hollywood’s hot secret.  With Microneedling treatments we frequently add Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), which speeds the healing process and improves the outcome.  During the procedure, tiny needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin.  During the skin’s repair process the body produces new collagen and elastin, and this creates a thicker dermis, softer wrinkles, and smoother skin.

Microneedling is most commonly done on the face, but can also be done on other areas of the body including the chest, neck, abdomen, arms, or other areas depending on where correction is desired. These are examples of Microneedling being performed on the chest and immediately post procedure on the neck.

How is the procedure done?

A topical numbing ointment is applied prior to treatment for one hour. Your face is cleansed and a thin layer of hyaluronic acid is applied. During treatment, a sterile needle-tip is attached to the micropen. Based on your individual needs and the issue being addressed, the appropriate needle depth is selected and the treatment is performed using several passes of the micropen over the entire surface area.  Patients experience mild discomfort and some areas may be more sensitive, most patients say the treatment is comfortable, and takes from 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete.

How many treatments do I need?  When will I see results?

The number of treatments varies but usually, it is recommended that a series of three or more is done.  The treatments are spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Visible changes to the skin develop over several weeks and results continue to improve up to 6 months after treatment as collagen production continues.
